Finless Dorks....
Yet another weekend of being immobilised and unable to surf has me shooting my buddies again. Unfortunately the swell for this weekend has dropped significantly but allowed the boys to test out their new finless crafts.

Portraits...
I don't know what prompted me to start doing this, but I guess all the people that I associate myself with are pretty interesting, unique, attractive, funny looking, comedic, or wild characters. And I guess I thought for a moment that if I collected portraits of all these people and tiled them together or displayed them somewhere, it would actually look pretty cool.
By no means is this project anywhere near finished, but this is just what has eventuated so far.

Cleo Bachelor....
These are a collection of portrait shots I took of my buddy (and then housemate) Dale Robinson for his entry into Cleo Magazine's Bachelor of the Year 2010. Without being quick to judge, or categorising Dale as one of those wanna-be, male model douche's that enters himself into modelling competitions - Dale is not one of these people. It was actually some friends from MTV Australia that nominated him without him knowing but he still had to submit photos to the website for people to judge - and although he is officially not a bachelor now, this would not have been a bad way of getting his mug in the face of a nation of babes and possibly winning a trip to Sydney for a night of suits, canapes, booze and partying!

Silver Lining.....
I'm in the WARS.....! Plain and simple. Speared my front tooth out with the nose of my board, broke my fifth bone in my right foot plus I've got a doozy of a Flu going on. This has rendered me unable to surf and as luck would have it, this weekend has been pumping. The silver lining of this dark cloud is that I have been able to shoot all my buddies having a blast and regulating amongst the peanut gallery!

Catalogue Scraps...
It's catalogue time......! This can be both a great time and a tedious time. It's awesome because I get to go to locations which I wouldn't normally get the chance to shoot, and I also have the direction of some very talented and creative people. It can also be a drag having extremely early mornings and even later nights, but the end result is always a reward. Here's a few scraps from the past few days....

Palau Masokut - Mentawai Islands...
I've just returned from a 10 day trip to Palau Masokut in the Mentawai Island chain off the south-west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. I've always wanted to go to these islands to surf whilst I still have the ability to perform at a decent level. I also wanted to photograph various landmarks, people, seascapes that I wouldn't get the chance to shoot at home. We scored waves that you'd normally only see in the magazines, stayed at the beautiful Pitstop Hill landcamp and were treated like kings, we ate amazing food cooked by the local women and got to visit Malilimok, a super remote and traditional Mentawaian village with minimal western influence. I hope you enjoy....
